FAQ

Electric Water Heaters
Can I really save on my water heating costs using a tankless water heater?
Yes. It is possible to save up to 45%-60% on your water heating costs.
How many consecutive showers can an electric tankless water heater provide?
You can take endless hot showers with the hot water provided by our electric tankless water heater. Because, it does not use a tank, there is no limit and no volume of hot water to run out of. You and your family can enjoy shower after shower without running out of hot water. NOTE: Depending on what model heater you choose you may only be able to run a single shower at a time.
How does a tankless water heater work?
Our electric tankless water heaters will activate with the flow of water, so when you need hot water and you open the fixture for hot water, this will activate the unit. This is one of the greatest benefits of the tankless water heaters is that it only consumes energy on demand; that is, when you open your hot water faucet, the water is heated immediately and in just seconds you will have hot water at your finger tips. The key to the saving is the on demand method which the water is heated only when it is needed.
Does the compact size of the tankless water heater limit its power?
Absolutely not! This is another of the benefit of our tankless water heaters--their compact size which allows installation almost anywhere. Our water heaters use only the most advanced technology, giving them tremendous heating capacity in a compact package.
How long will this water heater last?
With proper installation and periodic maintenance the water heaters are designed to last for more than 20 years.
Are there parts for my water heater available?
Yes. It is possible to purchase them by contacting Marey.
Is the tankless water heater quiet?
Yes. Electric Water Heaters are absolutely quiet during operation. These types of units are electronically controlled, employing advanced technology, thus there are no noisy moving or mechanical parts. All you should hear if anything is the sound of flowing water.
Can I adjust the water temperature?
Yes. Some models have temperature control knobs or buttons on the front, allowing you to adjust the amount of heating required for your situation or to adjust to a specific temperature. Others are controlled by water flow, and water temperature can be adjusted by adjusting the flow through the heater.
I have hard/mineral water. Can I still go tankless?
Yes, but it may be necessary to use a water filter to improve water quality before entering the tankless water heater and heating system to protect its components from mineral build up. Or, to periodically “flush” the system with white vinegar to remove scale build up.
Will the tankless water heater work well with well water/well pump?
Our units work well with well-water systems. Different models will have different pressure and flow requirements (see the instruction manuals for details about the unit you have in mind), but in most cases if the flow can be maintained at 1 GPM and the pressure can be maintained around 30-50 PSI you’ll be able to use any of our electrical units. Keep in mind that water flow and pressure are the eyes and ears of all tankless units. This is what tells the unit to come on and how much power is required to heat your water. If your system’s pressure fluctuates too much, there are a few things you can do to help stabilize the pressure output: A pressure booster pump, pressure tank or pressure regulator can keep the pump pressure from varying. Installing a backflow valve (anti-siphon), if do not already have one, is considered a must.
Where can I install my tankless water heater?
The Marey tankless water heater can be installed right where your old water heater used to be. Professional installation is recommended. New builds should try and keep the heater centrally located. As with most appliances, Marey tankless water heaters are designed to operate indoors, and therefore must be protected from rain and weather elements.
Can I install this tankless water heater myself?
As its electrical nature, it is recommended you hire a professional to install your Marey tankless water heater. Make sure you have the installation guide that came with your tankless water heater available when the installer arrives. The guide has information that will be useful during installation.
Can I install the electric tankless water heater outside?
No, unfortunately you cannot safely install the electric units outside.
Is the Marey tankless water heater easy to install?
The installation of our tankless water heaters are a straight-forward job. Most professional installers will be able to complete the job quickly and without any trouble. Please remind your installer to accurately follow all the instructions provided in the user guide. Wiring guides can be found within the instruction manual.
Does the Marey tankless water heater needs venting?
The electrical water heaters do not require venting of any kind.
Do the Marey tankless water heaters require pressure relief valve?
With the exception of the SANTON, under normal conditions, the Marey tankless water heaters require no pressure relief valve.
My pressure relief valve is adjustable. To what pressure should it be set?
You must set the pressure to that which is recommended by the manufacturer of your pipes. The pressure relief valve is there to protect your PVC/PVx/Plastic/Poly pipes. In most cases this will be somewhere between 20 and 80 PSI, preferably between 30-50 psi but again, please consult with the pressure rating setting by the manufacturer of your pipes.
My plumbing pipes uses plastic/PVC pipes. Can I use your tankless water heaters?
Yes, you can use our tankless water heaters with your plastic, PVC, PVx or any similar tubing material for the water inlet supply pipe. You must, however, on the water outlet pipe, use pvc or other appropriate materials that are rated for hot water applications. At the very least, use approximately 16 inches of copper or stainless tubing between the tankless heater and your plastic tubing to act as a buffer. The copper or stainless tubing must be installed on the inlet and outlet side of the tankless water heater. This metal tubing will act as a buffer, isolating your plastic tubing.
What are the power requirements: breaker amperage and wire sizes?
Each unit is designed for a different application, so the power requirements will vary from 10 Amps to 150 Amps. Voltages can be 110V for some units and 220V for others. Please consult the instruction manual and temperature increase charts for information about the amperage and voltage of a specific model. Be sure that your breaker sizes are appropriate for the amp draw of the unit that you choose. The wire gauge size (AWG = American Wire Gauge) will be determined by the amperage and the distance the power must travel (between the breaker and the water heater). If you aren’t sure about the size of wire to run, please consult an electrician.
Gas Water Heaters
Can I really save on my water heating costs using a tankless water heater?
Yes. It is possible to save up to 45%-60% on your water heating costs.
How many consecutive showers can a gas tankless water heater provide?
You can take endless hot showers with the water provided by the tankless water heater. Because the water heater heats water “on demand,” and does not use a tank, there is no limit to the amount of water available, and therefore no hot water to run out of. You and your family can enjoy shower after shower without of running out of hot water. NOTE: Depending on what size heater you choose you may only be able to run a single shower at a time. And since tankless water heaters heat water only as it is used instead of continuously maintaining a tank of hot water even when you’re not using it, you will also save on your water heating costs. So you get endless hot water AND lower overall energy consumption than a tanked model.
How does a tankless water heater work?
Our gas tankless water heaters will activate with the flow of water, so when you need hot water and you open the fixture for hot water, this will activate the unit. This is one of the greatest benefits of the tankless water heaters is that it only consumes energy on demand; that is, when you open your hot water faucet, the water is heated immediately and in just seconds you will have hot water at your finger tips. Tanked heaters keep the water in the tank hot at all times, even when it’s not being used. So the key to the savings is that our tankless heaters are only consuming energy when hot water is actually in use.
Does the compact size of the tankless water heater limit its power?
Absolutely not. Our water heaters use the most advanced heat exchange technology which gives them enormous capacity for heating. The compact size is an added benefit, which allows installation almost anywhere.
How long will this water heater last?
With proper installation and periodic maintenance, our water heaters are designed to last for more than 20 years.
Are there parts for my water heater available?
Yes, replacement parts are available for all models. It is possible to purchase them by contacting us.
Is the tankless water heater quiet?
Yes. Gas tankless water heaters units are exceptionally quiet. The units are electronically or manually controlled so there are no noisy moving or mechanical parts, and after ignition the only sound you might hear is the very low sound of flowing water or the sound of the flame.
Can I adjust the water temperature?
Yes. The tankless water heater allows you to easily adjust the water temperature to your liking. There are temperature control knobs or buttons conveniently located on the front of the unit, which allow you to control water flow and/or heat, as well as the amount of gas usage. On most models there are summer and winter settings too.
Does it matter which size unit I get?
Yes. Different size units are appropriate for different environments. A unit that is too small for your environment may not heat the water as much as you would like. A unit that is too large for your environment may overheat, causing the anti-scald safety protections on the unit to engage. Refer to our easy to read temperature increase chart to determine which of our many models is perfect for you by looking at our product detail page.
I have hard/mineral water. Can I still go tankless?
Yes, but it might be necessary to use a water filter inline with the heater to minimize sediment buildup. Or, periodically “flush” the system with white vinegar to remove the scale build up.
Will the tankless water heater work well with well water/well pump?
Our units work well with well-water systems. Pressure variations under 20 PSI are not generally tolerated well by the units. Keep in mind that water flow and pressure are the eyes and ears of all tankless heaters, as this is what tells the unit how much power is required to heat your water. Our units are designed to operate within the range of 8/150 PSI. It is recommended that your pump to set to run at 60-80 PSI, and with a consistent system pressure between 30-50 psi. If your system’s pressure fluctuates too much, you can install a booster pump, a pressure tank or a pressure regulator to keep the pressure consistent. Installing a backflow valve (anti-siphon), if you do not already have one, is considered a must with any pump installation.
Where can I install my tankless water heater?
The Marey tankless water heater can be installed right where your old water heater used to be. (Please check venting size from old water heater if you are replacing a unit, and never down size your venting from the Marey heater.) Professional installation is recommended. New builds should try and keep the heater centrally located. As with most appliances, Marey tankless water heaters are designed to operate indoors, therefore they must be protected from rain and weather elements.
Can I install this tankless water heater myself?
Working with gas can be very dangerous, so if you are not familiar with standard gas plumbing procedures and local building codes you should always hire a professional to install the water heater. Make sure you have the installation guide that came with your tankless water heater available when the installer arrives. The guide has information that will be useful during installation.
